Our Mission

Be part of the hundred thousand stories

The Vietnamese Museum Australia is an exciting national and international project for the community. The Museum has received bi-partisan support from members of the local and national parliament, who have granted the Vietnamese community a lifelong dream to build its own museum.

The Vietnamese Australia Museum will form the sixth cultural museum in the Multicultural Museums Victoria Network

By memorialising our history and culture, the Vietnamese Museum Australia ensures that the legacy of the ‘boat people’ will be remembered for generations to come.

Our Vision

The Vietnamese Museum’s vision aims towards "honouring the journey of freedom and the contributions of the Vietnamese community to the fabric of Australia.

Our Mission

The Museum is a place for the Vietnamese Community to:

  1. Leave a legacy of the Vietnamese refugee stories and history so that the new generations can honour their past and thus form the foundation for their identity.

  2. Record, exhibit, educate through living artefacts, by preservation and interpretation, and inspire all those that come after.

  3. Inspire people by learning about the incredible stories of the Vietnamese boat people, to persevere through adversity, seize their opportunities and remain resilient in the toughest of times.

  4. Be a beacon for the Vietnamese Community of Australia and its broader non-Vietnamese community.
